There’s Doin’s A-Happenin’
December 8, 2008
You’re probably wondering what the heck a non-fake-news post is doing here. Well, it’s pretty rare that we stoop to the level of “serious” blogs, and post something that is not fake.
But this is a special occasion. There are some pretty big things happening here at The Brickyard, and we wanted to make sure all (three) of our readers know about them.
Although our primary goal has been, and will continue to be, writing funny fake news articles that totally don’t rip off any other sites. But at the same time, we’ve always wanted to have something more available for our readers. And at the risk of sounding uber-cheesey, that something is a quality, funny, one-of-a-kind Cubs community.
For four years now, we’ve – that’s the royal we – belonged to the greatest Cubs message board on the ‘net, called Sons of Ivy. I know what you’re thinking: if it’s the greatest Cubs message board on the ‘net, why haven’t I heard of it? And also, I really want to bang my best friend’s mom. Shame on you for thinking the second, but we understand why you’d be thinking the first.
Sons of Ivy started several years ago as a private board, created by a group of friends who were looking for a different kind of Cubs message board. One that wasn’t overrun by idiots who couldn’t string together a coherent thought, and one that wasn’t overrun by tyrant moderators who cry about “swear” words and “personal attacks.” Fuck that.
Thus, Sons of Ivy was born. And for years, we operated our little private message board. But now we’re ready to take things public. Mostly. And we’re coming right here to the Brickyard.
So if you’re interested in checking out our message board – and the funniest, most knowledgeable Cubs fans around – check it out: Sons of Ivy. Even if you’re not into the whole funny/knowledgeable thing, we tend to discuss every rumor or news item out there, so it’s a nice one-stop shop for all things Cubs.
And it gets better. As some of you know, The Brickyard started out as the blog for Bricks & Ivy Radio’s excellent podcast. Well, we got full of ourselves and left to go it on our own.
Aaaaaaaand now we’re back. Actually, they’re back. Bricks & Ivy Radio is coming to The Brickyard. Yeah, we’ve always hosted a copy of their podcast here, but now we’re going to be together again. So be on the lookout for Bricks & Ivy Radio at the Brickyard – it’s the best Cubs podcast out there, hands down.
So that’s it. Check out Sons of Ivy, and look for Bricks & Ivy Radio.
